Theme: RECEIVING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD

Text: “And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.” Luke 9:47,48

Comment: Where there is genuine Christian love among believers, there would be no room for unhealthy rivalry, pettiness, gossip, hate, and vices in general. St. Paul admonishes, “That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.” (1 Corinthians 12:25)  There was a time the disciples of Jesus Christ had an issue as touching “which of them should be greatest.” (Luke 9:46). Christ settled the superiority contest using the words in the day’s devotional. In simple term, his response was to the effect that, the topic itself was UNNECESSARY! He then proceeded to teach them humility using a child to illustrate his point. Paul the Apostle gave this charge, “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? Care not for it”. 1Corinthians 7:20, 21,24
