Theme: The Essence of Self Comportment

Text: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” – 1 John 2:15, 16.

Comment: Sin, in all dimensions, falls under these three elements – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These are fleshly pleasures, Satan uses to hold mankind in captivity. Apostle John declared: “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” (1 John 5:19) Satan employed these to tempt Jesus Christ, but Christ rebuked him and he fled. (Matthew 4:3-11) Apostle Peter enjoined Christians to “abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul”. (1 Peter 2:11, 12) Paul, the apostle exhorted worshippers of God to “abstain from all appearance of evil.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:22.
