Theme: WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN
Text: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” – Matthew 22:37, 38.
Comment: The text for today was an answer to a certain lawyer who asked Jesus Christ a question in a bid to tempt him. The response of Christ as stated, expresses another requirement and demand of true Christianity which is total, faithful and unconditional obedience to the laws and commandments of God. This, Christ said, is a demonstration of the love of God. “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15) The Holy Bible says: “That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.” – Deuteronomy 6:2; Leviticus 26:3, 4; Ecclesiastes 12:13.
