Theme: THE DANGER OF APOSTASY
Text: “Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.” – Deuteronomy 7:3, 4.
Comment: When God brought the children of Israel to settle on the land which He promised them, He warned them about fraternising with the Gentile nations who live near them. The whole essence of this warning is to keep the Israelites on their toes so that they do not get carried away. Thus, we should keep ourselves unspotted from the alluring lifestyles in today’s “modern world”, where sin and immorality are no longer frowned at but rather eulogised and praised against the ordinances of God. (James 1:27) True Christians should know when to draw the line in trying to live in today’s world, where many are deliberately flouting the laws of God in the quest to be fashionable, while others are gradually becoming apostate as they try to keep up with modern trends. God’s worshipers should be wise and keep to God’s ordinances at all times. – Romans 1:18-32; Exodus 23:2.
