Theme: MEEKNESS IN GOD’S SERVICE

Text: “Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.” -Psalms 76:8-9.

Comment: The impending judgment of God on the world is something that we should not take lightly. It is as true and sure as night follows day. We need to be mindful of ourselves and understand what the will of God concerning us is at every point in time. We should not act as if we are ignorant of this knowledge and be swept away by the pleasures and excitement of worldly desires. And we also need to be prayerful for the help of God in this regard because we can of ourselves do nothing. “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer”( 1 Peter 4:7). To achieve this, we must have open hearts to hear the word of God constantly and make ourselves available to do so. This is a quality of meekness.

We are warned in Zephaniah 2:1-3 “…Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall  be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.” When people who have known the word of God strive to practise what they know, they will grow in the fruits of the spirit and be protected by God in the time of trouble. “The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.” – Psalm 22:26
