Introduction: “Comportment” means “to behave in a manner conformable to what is right, proper or expected.” The theme: “The Essence of Comportment” implies the need for people to conduct themstelves, or act in particular ways that are proper and acceptable to God, keeping the Christian faith, to earn themselves honour and respect from people around them, blessings from God, and eventually be saved in the everlasting and perfect Kingdom of God by His grace. We shall be highlighting the importance of comportment as true worshippers of God in the coming days by His grace.
Text: “These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly. But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 3: 14, 15.
Comment: Apostle Paul was a good shepherd to the flock of God who cared much about their Spiritual well-being. He did not want his physical absence to be a reason for the Spiritual malnourishment of the flock. In the leading text, he was writing to his Spiritual son Timothy to be careful how he behaved himself as a bishop in the Church of God, not to bring reproach to the name of God. He told Timothy: “be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; Continue in them, for in doing this, thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee” – 1 Timothy 4: 12-16.
