Theme: WORKING OUT OUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING

Text:  “Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.” – 1 Corinthians 3:8.

Comment:  A Christian will not be worth the name if he does not fear God or do things in acknowledgement of His greatness, supremacy and majesty, hence the need for us to work out our “own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12) It is an indisputable fact that any virtuous act which is not based on the fear of God is spiritually worthless and unprofitable. – 2 Corinthians 7:1

As Christians, we must show our faith with works. There should be no folding of the hands; rather we should work willingly, honestly and steadfastly till the end for our blessings and salvation by God’s grace.  “…But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon….Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is…” (1 Corinthians 3:10-15)  Judas Iscariot and Simon the sorcerer claimed to be worshipping God but their insincerity and lack of fear of God were soon exposed. Their “services” were certainly unacceptable to God. (John 12:3-8; Acts 8:18-24) All those whose actions fall short of God’s standards should retrace their steps now lest they be disappointed in the end. – Daniel 12:2; Romans 2:6-11; Hebrews 12: 12-14.
