Theme: UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES
Text: “Many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and show great signs and wonders, in so much that, if it were possible they shall deceive the very elect.” – Matthew 24:11, 24.
Comment: The upsurge of false prophets is another sign of the times. There is no denying the fact that today, people are more interested in associating with religious charlatans because of their desire for signs and wonders; they are eager to be rich, they want to be healed of their ailments, the barren want to be mothers of children, etc. With this soft spot for miracles, the love for TRUTH, the truth that sets one free, is just not there. No wonder Christ declared: “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign…” (Matthew 12:38, 39; 16:4) These false prophets prophesy false visions and their predictions are fallacious. (Jeremiah 5:26-31; 14:14; 23:26-32) Every form of evil is on the increase and being perpetuated with more sophistication and vigour. Their end will be disastrous and terrible as well as those who follow them. – Matthew 7:21-23; 15:14; Revelation 16:13, 14; 2 Timothy 3:13; 2 Peter 2:1-3.
