Theme: GCOPING WITH LONELINESS

Text: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”. – Hebrews 4: 15,16. (New King James Version)

Comment: God sympathizes with our weaknesses; so, we should always turn to him in our loneliness. Loneliness is the sadness which arises when one lacks company or friends. From the Biblical account of creation and marriage, God recognized the need for people to have companionship in order to avoid loneliness. Often, with a companion by one’s side, the possibility of loneliness is reduced. But there are times in life when we seem to be alone especially during physical and psychological challenges. Believers of the gospel of Christ are encouraged to seek the face of God through the comforting words of the Scriptures. This is very important in the life of a Christian. The name of the Lord, is a strong tower (Proverbs 18:10) and when the righteous run to God they will get succour. Another way of coping with loneliness is to get involved in spiritual activities like visiting the sick, doing works of love that can take the mind away from thoughts and worries. See Hebrews 13:16.
