Theme: FAITH: A WEAPON OF DEFENCE

Text: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6.

Comment: Faith denotes concrete belief, unalloyed confidence or trust in God Almighty, His word and in Jesus Christ His only Begotten Son. We do not see God yet we firmly have belief in His existence by reason of the abundance of things we see around us. Thus, through faith we can hope for and be certain of realities we do not see. St Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. It can therefore be seen that unbelief is a major setback that separates a person from his Maker and reduces him from honour to dishonour like the beast that is not endowed with intellect. Faith is one of the fundamentals of a true Christian and in its absence no one can please God Almighty. It is therefore a prerequisite. – Hebrews 10:35,36,38,39;  1 Peter 1:3-9.
