Theme: The Essence of Self Comportment

Text: “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” – 1 Peter 3:3, 4.

Comment: Fashion or dressing is very well defined in the Holy Scriptures, and it plays a pivotal role in Christianity: it identifies, and helps to portray the character, and public perception of an individual. Holy women of old dressed modestly and subjected themselves to their own husbands. (1 Peter 3:1-6) In the text for today, Christians are advised to always dress decently and not conform to the disorderly indecent patterns of this world as Apostle Paul exhorts: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:1, 2 see also 1 Corinthians 10:31; 7:31
