Theme: THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD OF GOD

Text: “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” – Psalm 107:19,20

Comment: The citation for today shows that when people are afflicted in various ways, they should turn to God Almighty in prayer so the He would clear the land of the scourge. “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted” such that “their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death”.  The remedy is in this exhortation: “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.” (Psalm 107:17-20; Hosea 6:1) The other side of the coin is that those whose “heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed” will not  have mercy of God. – Matthew 13:15.

In these unprecedented times, the Almighty God continues to heal and deliver His people by making them to understand His purposes so that they would make their way right with Him for Him to have mercy on them. God says: “I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.” (Isaiah 57:19) The Bible says God had anointed Jesus Christ “to preach the gospel to the poor … to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” – Luke 4:18, 19.
