Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”. – Hebrews 13:12, 15.
Comment: In a detailed expository on the abolishment of animal sacrifices in the Christian era and the superiority of Christ’s shed blood over that of animals, Paul, the apostle, asserts that: “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins”. (Hebrews 10:4) This by no means rules out the fact that Christians are duty bound to offer sacrifice to God, that of praise in exaltation of His holy name, in acknowledgement of His unparalleled majesty and supremacy and in appreciation of His goodness, (Ephesians 5:20) We should use our lips to praise the Creator and Eternal Sovereign of the Universe, through spiritually meaningful songs, well-worded prayers and righteousness by His grace. – Psalm 95:1, 2; 66:1, 2; Isaiah 12:2, 5; Romans 12:1.
