Theme: GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN

Text: “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” – Philippians 4:11.

Comment: This was the charge of Apostle Paul to the Christians at Philippi exhorting them to be contented with what God has blessed them which also applies to us now living in this age of the end of the world.  We should not be envious of the wicked.  Their wealth is ill-gotten. (Psalm 73:2-17) They are not from God.  The Bible says: “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.  Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.” (Psalm 37:35, 36; Proverbs 23:5) Apostle Paul in the text for today is admonishing Christians to always be satisfied with what we have and endeavour to remember God in times of difficulty and plenty. We should not be carried away with frivolities and cares of this world because certainly every one of us will give account of ourselves to God. – Romans 14:12; Ecclesiastes 11:12, 13.
