Theme: OBEDIENCE OF THE RECHABITES
Text: “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” – Acts 5:29.
Comment: The text for today were words that came from the lips of St. Peter and the other apostles in the midst of their trials and temptations in the hands of the captain and officers of the temple in Jerusalem. They did their utmost to ensure the gospel of Christ did not spread and put them in prison. Miraculously, they were released that same night and continued preaching. Having been brought before the council, they were seriously warned to put a stop to their preaching. This was to no avail as Peter and the other apostles replied in that regard. Faithful Jews like Shadrach, Meshach Abednego and Daniel remained defiant when faced with temptations and were delivered by God. (Daniel 3:1-30; 6:1-28) Faithfulness and obedience to God in the midst of temptations bring God blessings to one.
