Theme: AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES

Text: “To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste”. – Deuteronomy 32:35.

Comment: In the words of King David, God Almighty is the One to Whom vengeance belongs. He will one day assert Himself. (Psalm 94:1-6) Let all those who are given to wickedness therefore hear, flee from their evil ways and repent thoroughly, else they will certainly be punished no matter how long it takes. The Prophet Isaiah, stated, “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! It shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him”. – Isaiah 3:10-12; Isaiah 1:16-20.

The fact is that those given to wickedness do not believe they will ever be called to account for their ungodly deeds. But the assurance from God Almighty that everyone will be rewarded for his deeds, whether good or bad is a powerful incentive to the doing of righteousness and warning against sin. King Solomon was inspired to say: “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. – Ecclesiastes 8:11-13.
