Theme: THE PURPOSE OF MAN ON EARTH

Text: “And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.” – Acts 12:23.

Comment: There is no cause at all for man to think above himself if he realizes that he is nothing but dust. (Psalm 144:3, 4; 8:3, 4) Today’s admonition highlights the experience of king Herod who was notorious for persecuting the early Christians. He killed James the apostle and imprisoned Saint Peter. Despite the fact that his people gave him extraordinary honour, God showed that his pomp and glory were counterfeit; and his end was miserable. The Scriptures reveal that he was gifted with oratory and when the people showered praises or encomiums on him, he did not acknowledge God but arrogated it to himself. (Acts 12:21, 22) Whatever gift or talent God has blessed us with, should be used to His glory and to fulfil His purpose. – 1 Peter 4:10, 11; 1 Corinthians 10:31.
