Text: “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10.
Comment: A number of youths of this age have been made to believe that having stupendous wealth is the ultimate achievement in life. This has led many to say: “I must make it, by hook or by crook”. Some engage in rituals for money, armed robbery, prostitution, drug dealing, etc., all in a bid to make quick riches. The Holy Bible warns: “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 16:25. See also Proverbs 14:12; Jeremiah 17:11) Continuing on the text for today, St. Paul admonishes: “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” – 1 Timothy 6:11, 12.
