Text: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23.
Comment: The consequence of committing sin is death and one of such sins is covetousness. Thus, it follows that covetousness ultimately leads to death, i.e. loss of salvation. But by living after Christ – a life free from covetousness and filled with the spirit of God – one can escape this consequence by God’s grace. (Romans 8:5-8; 1 John 2:15-17) The sin of covetousness deals with inordinate or untamed desires which makes one become unhappy, miserable, bitter, discontented or envious of the successes and prosperity of others. All who suffer from the temptation of covetousness should acknowledge it to be a problem and turn to God – our Faithful Father – who alone can help such ones out of the snare of covetousness. – 1 Corinthians 10:13.
