Theme: THE TRIAL OF OUR FAITH

Text:

Text: “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 1:7.

Comment: While the devil’s intention is to discourage mankind from worshipping God, persecutions and trials of faith are sometimes allowed by God to try our faith in Him and, in the process, purify us. The text for today tells us that, there will be reward for those who maintain their integrity till the end notwithstanding the fiery trials that may come our way in the cause of serving God.

Today, some do get discouraged and overwhelmed thereby resorting to speaking evil against God because of the persecutions, challenges and trials they face at home, workplace or at school. However, true worshippers of God should not be carried away to say or do what is wrong when they are faced with such circumstances. This is because such trials are temporal.- Proverbs 24:10; Psalm 42:11.

St. Paul exhorted worshippers of God of the provisions He (God) has made to see us through such trials and obtain victory at the end; “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13.
