Theme: OBJECT LELSSONS FROM THE LIFE AND EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL

Text: “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.” – Philippians 3:8.

Comment: No sacrifice is too great, or any obstacle insurmountable, neither is any sin too pleasurable, nor trial of our faith so potent, as to weaken the faith of those who are desirous of eternal life, by the grace of God. Unarguably, St. Paul actually “left all” to follow Christ, having profited in the Jew’s religion above his contemporaries; a lawyer by profession, and a Roman citizen “of no mean city”. All of these he regarded as vanity, in order not to be distracted in pursuing the promised prize. He had a consistent approach towards trials and affliction which is RESILIENCE. At a point, he stated: “…Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2Corinthians 12:9.
