Theme: THE BLESSING IN DOING WHAT WE HEAR

Text: “Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.” – Psalm 106:3.

Comment: Doing righteousness entails running away from sin and carrying out what is just, right and good in the sight of God. (Ezekiel 18:5-9) The Psalmist talked about those who practise righteousness: “He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.” (Psalm 15:2,3) We are not only expected to know what is right in the sight of God (Romans 12:1, 2), but also to perform them in our lives. This is what stands us out as righteous persons. Moses the Prophet told the Jews: “And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.” – Deuteronomy 6:24, 25.
