Text: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”. – Acts 3:19.
Comment: Repentance starts from the heart, the seat of thought and reasoning. When one commits a misdeed, it is in his heart that he realises the gravity of his offence which naturally puts him in a remorseful and penitent mood for repentance. (2 Corinthians 7:10) St. John declared: “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.” (1 John 3:20, 21) When Peter, the apostle preached to some of the Jews on the day of Pentecost, they were pricked in their hearts which made them express their desire to be converted to the true way. (Acts 2:37-41) King David prayed: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” – Psalm 51:10, 11.
