Theme: THE DANGER OF TALE BEARING AND RASH JUDGMENT

Text: “He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore, meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.” – Proverbs 20:19.

Comment: No one will confide in a talebearer as the text for today indicates, because they know that if they do, everything, including their privacy will become a topic for the public. As true Christians, we should live a life in which people can have confidence to share their problems with us, with the aim of getting moral and spiritual support, not for us to make their problems public thereby mocking such ones. Some who cannot handle the public shame as a result of the actions of talebearers may resort to suicidal tendencies. Younger women, (and indeed all Christians) are enjoined by Apostle Paul to get married, build their own homes and avoid vices such as busy-body and talebearing. (1 Timothy 5:12-14; Titus 2:2-4; 2 Thessalonians 3:11, 12) Charity is a very important quality every Christian should have, and if as Christians we have charity, we will not go about talebearing and exposing the privacy of others. – 1 Corinthians 13:1-7, 13.
