Text: “Then shall thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” – Proverbs 2:5, 6.
Comment: Knowledge is a wide concept that has no end. It refers to the information, facts, skills and wisdom acquired through learning and experience of life. Secular knowledge is gained through academic feats and life’s experiences; while spiritual knowledge instructs us of the purpose of God for man, and understanding of His ways. – John 8:32; 17:3.
Knowledge is sometimes used interchangeably with wisdom as St. James used it: “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5) To be bereft of this genuine knowledge of God is evidence of lack of seriousness. Scripture states that “…for the soul to be without knowledge, it is not good” – Proverbs 19:2
