Theme: OBEDIENCE OF THE RECHABITES
Text: “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.” – 1 Peter 3:1.
Comment: From the Bible text under focus today, one can see how St. Peter admonished wives to be in subjection to their husbands and the examples of such obedience displayed by Sarah, the wife of faithful Abraham was mentioned. (1 Peter 3:1-6) God Almighty ordained marriage and clearly spelt out the responsibilities of all parties in order to ensure a peaceful and happy home by the grace of God. (Colossians 3:18-20) The good character of the wives, as stated in today’s text could convert those who are unbelievers to the way of truth without being preached to. Christian wives are therefore admonished to follow this biblical principle of marriage so as to build their homes and be blessed by God’s grace. Proverbs 14:1; Titus 2:1-5.
