Comment: As Christians, we are admonished not to avenge ourselves but to forgive all those that trespassed against us.(Matthew 18:21, 22; Proverbs 24:17-19)Jesus Christ buttressed this, when he stated, “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:43-45) Similarly, St Peter stated, “…not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.” – 1 Peter 3:8, 9.
