Text: “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.” – 2 Timothy 4:10.
Comment: In Philemon verse 24, it could be seen that Demas was a fellow worker with Apostle Paul, propagating the gospel of Christ. His activities were noted and appreciated when St. Paul recommended that he be greeted in the epistle to Philemon. But over time, Demas allowed carnality overwhelm him as he minded the things of this world at the expense of the things of God. Christians who have chosen to devote their lives to the ministry of Christ should avoid worldly things that could lure them to carnality, hence making them abandon their call. Jesus Christ said: “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”. – Luke 9:62; 17:32.
