Theme: BE YE DOERS OF THE WORD

Text: “Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 18:5

Comment:  The most important blessing in keeping the word of God is eternal life in God’s Kingdom fully established. Moses the servant of God told the Jews, “And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.” (Deuteronomy 32:46, 47) And St. Paul stated: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) To get life one must continue in doing what one has heard until the end. (Matthew 24:12,13; Hebrews 10:35-39) It is to ensure that believers are practical Christians that Apostle James wrote: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves…But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” – James 1:22-25.
