Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 14.
Comment: In accordance with God’s purpose to nourish His sheep in a feast of spiritually-edifying meals, (Isaiah 25:6, 7) He is now gathering His sheep – lovers of truth and righteousness – into His kingdom fold through the preaching of the everlasting gospel. The onus is on true Christian converts therefore, to overwhelm themselves with the edifying, transforming, and sanctifying benefits of God’s word, and put the same into action. It is on this premise that their belief of the truth would not be in vain. When we consider our call to God’s holy mountain, a rare privilege from Him, we would realise that a life of gratitude, is the least we owe Him in return. (Matthew 11:25; 13:16, 17) “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord”. – Psalm 118:1, 19.
