Theme: THE WILL OF GOD
Text: “He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.” – Matthew 26:42.
Comment: The inscription on the altar stage of any service hall of the God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) – The Church of The Living God – reads: THY WILL BE DONE O’ JEHOVAH! This quote is drawn from the prayer of Jesus Christ shortly before his arrest as stated in today’s text. The will of the Father was that Christ should die for the sins of mankind. (1 Timothy 1:15; John 3:16, 17) Christ understood the prophecies concerning his mission on earth that it was determined by God for him to die to redeem man from sin and death. Some of us are faced with trials, temptations and tribulations – sicknesses, hunger, barrenness, unemployment, marriage difficulties, domestic violence, drug addiction, alcoholism, etc., and we may feel defeated, and do not know what to do. This prayer of Jesus Christ shows us the way to attaining succour in the Lord. See Hebrews 5:7-10.
