Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.” – Isaiah 38:19.
Comment: Man can only achieve God’s unchangeable purpose by showing forth His praise, while alive, “for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave”. (Ecclesiastes 9:10) Hezekiah, king of Judah, had cause to express thanks to the Greatest Healer, God Almighty, after his recovery from ill health. He stated his determination to give himself to God’s worship, when he added: “What shall I say? He hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.” (Isaiah 38:15) This is in line with Saint Paul’s epistle to the Roman believers, to wit: “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? – Roman 2:4.
