Theme: AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SIN NOT

Text: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Comment: The need to abstain from unfruitful works of darkness can never be overstated. However, it should be borne in mind that by practising the demands of the truth, we are not doing God any favour, neither has He anything to lose if we choose to disobey Him. Speaking through Jeremiah the Prophet, God asked “Do they provoke me to anger? Saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?” – Jeremiah 7:19.

Having come to the way of truth by God’s grace, we have no alternative to CHRIST’S recommendation which is to “worship the Father in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23) The dictates/expectations of the truth are well spelt out in the scriptures. – 2 Peter 3:11,14; Titus 2:11-14, etc.

One painful consequence of continuing in acts we already know is evil, is that we end up making the redemptive mission of CHRIST’S blood of no effect and crucify to ourselves “the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” God forbid – Hebrews 6:4-6.
