Theme: GOOD HEART CONDITION IN GOD'S SERVICE

Text: “Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” – Matthew 15:7-9.

Comment: The Pharisees were religious leaders in those days.  They had hypocrisy as their stock-in-trade, hence Jesus Christ warned people to beware of them. (Luke 12:1, 2; Matthew 16:6-12) Some religious leaders in this age are the counterparts of the Pharisees and Sadducees because they can talk sweet things about God, yet they go against the doctrines of God by preaching the deceits of their own hearts which runs contrary to the truth in the Holy Bible. (Matthew 23:1-5) This was attested to by God Almighty through Jeremiah the Prophet to wit:“I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart.” (Jeremiah 23:25,26) Worshippers of God should be circumspect so as not to be carried away by the deceit of false prophets. – Ephesians 4:14.
