Theme: OBJECT LELSSONS FROM THE LIFE AND EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL
Text: “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” – Acts 20:24.
Comment: The goal of every Christian believer is to gain life everlasting, making the race of Salvation, one of “forward ever, backward never!” Saint Paul had an admirable way of maintaining his focus on the heavenly reward. He declared: “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Corinthians 9:27) True to his expectation, Paul had a successful ministry, such that, at the end, making an appraisal of himself, he declared: “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day”. (2 Timothy 4:6-8) May GOD help us guard against the sin that easily besets us, so that we may obtain salvation and its attendant blessings in His fully established Kingdom, by His grace.
