Theme: COPING WITH LONELINESS

Text: “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me”. – John 14:1.

Comment: This was the charge Christ gave to his apostles.  These words of comfort from Jesus Christ on why believers should not be troubled is good for persons who feel lonely and become troubled as a result. One of the symptoms of loneliness is restlessness of spirit. A lonely person also suffers from a low spirit. And when the spirit is low, the zeal to do things disappears. In some it affects the will to carry on. (Psalm 42:11) But as a Christian, the Bible says that when we are in such a condition, we should not be troubled. By staying close to spiritual things, both in thoughts and actions, we will be strong and find comfort in the words of the scriptures. (Psalm 19:7-11) Sometimes, one can be in the midst of many people and still feel lonely because there is no connection between them.  We should believe in God and He will make good His promise to us by His grace and power. – Hebrews 13:5,6;  Mark 10:28-30.
