Theme: Prudence

Text: But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” – 1 Peter 4:7.

Comment: In the text for today, the emphasis is on the need to be focused on salvation because the end of all things is near. To “watch unto prayer” means to be spiritually vigilant by studying the Bible to understand the signs of the times and to pray regularly to God for guidance and help. To be sober means one is calm, wise and temperate.  (Luke 21:36) The Bible warns Christians to be careful and to be wise in their affairs, especially during the last days described in the Scriptures as “perilous times”. (2 Timothy 3:1) It was the Apostle Paul who advised Christians: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15, 16.
