Theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

Text: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” – Hebrews 6:10.

Comment: The Almighty God keeps record of our good deeds and will reward us adequately in due season. There is nothing good a man does which goes unrewarded, no matter how little it may be or how long it takes. There is the instance of the captive Jew, Mordecai, in the kingdom of Persia who revealed the plot by some of King Ahasuerus officers to kill him. (Esther 2:21-23) No reward whatsoever was given to Mordecai then for so loyal an act as saving the king’s life. He seemed to have been forgotten. But when the King Ahasuerus, discovered this from official record of the kingdom, he ordered that Mordecai should be given royal honours. (Esther 6:1-10)  Also, there is the instance of a female disciple among the early Christians by name Dorcas who was raised to life by St. Peter, having been known to be a woman “full of good works and alms deeds”. (Acts 11:36-42). The appeal of a centurion in the city of Capernaum to have his servant healed by Jesus Christ was granted based on the Jewish elders’ recommendation that “… he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue” – Luke 7:1-10.

Admonishing Christians St Paul wrote: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ” – Colossians 3:23,24.
