Text: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33.
Comment: Human wants are said to be numerous and insatiable. But as today’s devotional exhorts, those who make the worship of God their priority and endeavour to practice the righteousness of God, will be blessed with the abundance of God’s goodness and mercies. King Solomon exhorts: “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” (Proverbs 22:4) Jesus Christ in the leading text provides a time-tested panacea to all of man’s real ‘needs’ for peaceful and quality life, void of pain and misery; not one suggested by insatiable greed, but lacking essential utility, which at the end makes one a villain – an enemy of God and His people. (Matthew 6:25-34; 16:26) Those who take shortcuts to solve their problems, outside God, soon realise that Satan the devil offers no free gift to anyone. Such ones end up compounding issues for themselves as they soil their hands with innocent blood and “pierce themselves through with many sorrows”. – 1 Timothy 6:6-10.
