Text: “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations.” – 1 Peter 1: 5, 6.
Comment: In this text, Apostle Peter dwells on the power of God which keeps us in the faith. Because of the hope of salvation which we have, we can, and should endure the trials and temptations which we face in life. “But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.” (Psalm 37:39, 40) Temptations should strengthen us after we have overcome them. (James 1:2-4; 4:7) So, we must focus on the goal of salvation which is the ultimate reward for Christians by the grace of God. Apostle Peter declared: “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” – 1 Peter 1:9.
