Theme: CASTING ALL YOUR BURDENS ON CHRIST

Text: “Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.” – Matthew 10:9, 10. (New King James Version).

Comment: When Christ sent his apostles on missionary duties, he denied them extra provisions: to test their faith, endurance, and build their trust in God Almighty; also, that they be not carried away by “cares of this life”. (Luke 21:34) Christ taught them contentment and warned them to lay up treasures in heaven, not upon the earth that could decay. (Matthew 6:19-23; 10:9-15) After the mission they confessed that, indeed, they lacked nothing during their journey (Luke 22:35), just like the Israelites lacked nothing during their forty years journey through the wilderness. (Deuteronomy 2:7; Nehemiah 9:21) In the midst of the perils of the present life, Christians should have faith, and repose absolute trust in JEHOVAH, the Great Provider. –  Hebrew 11:6; Isaiah 26:3, 4; 49:15, 16.
