Theme: OBEDIENCE OF THE RECHABITES
Text: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother… That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” – Ephesians 6:1-3.
Comment: The text for today is the commandment of God for children which has its promise or reward of long life and blessings from God. A good child can be known by his subjection to his parents or guardian as was seen in Jesus Christ in his infancy. “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them…” (Luke 2:51; Proverbs 23:22) Unfortunately, some children are disobedient to their parents. (2 Timothy 3:1, 2) The understanding of the leading text is that it will not be well for children who are stubborn and disobedient and they may not enjoy long life which are the blessings that will accrue to those who are obedient. “Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.” – Proverbs 20:20.
