Theme: OBEDIENCE OF THE RECHABITES

Text: “Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.” – Hebrews 4:1.

Comment: That Christians of today have a number of examples of ancient times at their disposal to learn object lessons from is a matter of divine grace. (1 Corinthians 10:11,6; Romans 15:4) The knowledge of everlasting joy that awaits us should instill in us the determination to serve God faithfully. Nothing should make us lose our focus. Rather, we are expected to labour “to enter into that rest”. (Hebrews. 4:11, 3:12) Moses wrote. “And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day”. (Deuteronomy 6:24). And in Jeremiah 7:23, God declared: ”…Obey my voice and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people; and walk ye in all my ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.”
