Theme: RECEIVING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD

Text: “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” – Psalm 138:6.

Comment: Children readily carry out instructions, go to errands, perform tasks, accept their faults with pity, are remorseful, and make effort not to repeat their mistakes, all in a bid to please their parents. God Almighty takes delight in His people when they serve Him with humility, and grants them His grace, but resists the proud. (1 Peter 5:5; Proverbs 3:34) One who is given to pride is hardly remorseful of his evil, and so, will not see the need to repent of it. Under inspiration, Isaiah the prophet wrote: “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” – Isaiah 57:15; Psalm 51:17.
