Theme: AVOIDING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Text: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, come with us let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause…We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path.” – Proverbs 1:10,11,13,15

Comment: It is lack of contentment and greed that make people to steal, kill and destroy in order to take possession of other people’s property. (John 10:10) These days, stealing, looting and killing have become professions or ways of life to some, so much so that they are no longer ashamed of it. Truly the unjust knows no shame. (Zephaniah 3:5) They parade themselves in vain glory and terrorize their neighbourhoods, making people to pass the night in fear. These people have sold their consciences; they no longer have feelings for their fellow human beings. (1 Timothy 4: 2) David the prophet states, “The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. (Psalm 37:12-19) Those who are given to stealing should repent now for their own good. St. Paul says: “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” – Ephesians 4:28.
