Theme: WHERE CAN PEACE AND SAFETY BE FOUND?
INTRODUCTION
The world is in a huge hullabaloo; bereft of peace. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the search for peace and safety often feels like chasing shadows. Mankind strives to carve out moments of tranquility amid the relentless pace of responsibilities, fears, and anxieties. Many look to position, wealth, bricks, steels, stable relationships, ammunitions and their fellow man as fulcrums of peace and security; and forget the ultimate source of peace, JEHOVAH and His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6, Luke 1:76-79.
The Devotional Guide of the next fortnight invites you to explore profound reflections on the nature, context, sanctuary and source of peace and safety as seen in the pages of the Holy Writ. Together, we will delve into the paths that lead not just to temporary relief, but to the everlasting peace of God. Through reading, prayer, meditation and practice, we will discover that peace and safety are God’s twin gifts which He gives not just to those who make literal efforts, but to those who are spiritually connected to or wholeheartedly trust in Him. Join us as we revive the reassuring truth that peace and safety can be found only in God through Jesus Christ and in His Kingdom, anchored on our relationship with Him.
Text: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring”. – Luke 21:25.
Comment: The Bible is replete with prophecies about the preponderance of wickedness and turbulence in this age at the instance of Satan. (See Daniel 12:10; 2 Timothy 3:1-7, 13) Our Saviour in the text for today, symbolically spoke of the principal elements used by Satan the devil to govern this evil world and its turmoil – Sun (political elements), Moon (religious elements) and Stars (commercial elements), with the leaders (sea) and the led (waves) in constant disagreement. The problems of the world today are so much that as Christ foretold, the hearts of many are failing them because one cannot say what would happen the next minute. (Luke 21:26) However, as children of the Most High, we should in the face of these difficulties “look up”, i.e. exercise faith in God, as Christ advised in same text. (verse 28), for our redemption draweth nigh. So, despite the turmoil and whereever we are, let us repose strong confidence in God for our protection, provision, peace and salvation. – Isaiah 45:22.
