Text: “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” – 1 Chronicles 28:9.
Comment: The importance of a good heart condition in the service of God cannot be over emphasized. (Proverbs 4:23) The daily dealings of man, whether open or secret, are known to God. (Hebrews 4:13) In Jeremiah 17:9, 10 it is written: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” One can appreciate the magnitude of the righteous and fatherly advice David the Prophet gave to his son Solomon. Indeed, nobody can deceive or make mockery of God hence faithful service is important for us to earn His blessings by His grace. – Acts 5:1-11; Galatians 6:7-10
