Theme: Prudence
Text: “A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.” – Proverbs 15:5.
Comment: Parents have a responsibility to bring up their children and wards “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”. (Ephesians 6:4) And children are expected to obey their parents and elders. (Ephesians 6:1-3) Any child who disregards the advice of parents is not wise. Indeed, anyone who is a parent or guardian ought to give godly advice to their children and wards under their care. The Bible says that we should train up children in the way they should go and when they are old, the good child will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6; 13:24; Deuteronomy 4:9) Anybody who despises the advice of a parent is a fool. It is a prudent child that listens to parents’ advice. – Proverbs 1:10; 13:1.
