Theme: WHY DO THE WICKED PROSPER AND LIVE LONG?
Text: “Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.” – Proverbs 23:17.
Comment: All assurances given to the wicked by reason of their association with evil doers will lead to their ruin eventually. Thus, it is a glaring fact that the riches and joys of the wicked are counterfeit and transitory but everlasting joy and gladness shall be the portion of those who remain steadfast in the fear of God. “Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?… Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he? He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night…This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.” – Job 20:4-9, 29.
