Theme: COMMENTARY ON JAMES CHAPTERS 1 – 2

Text: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” – James 1:5-8.

Comment: God Almighty is the repository of all wisdom. (Romans 11:33,34) One who is wise and who desires peace and life must seek the wisdom that comes from the most High.  But the person has to ask, and be earnest in his desire for it.  “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.” (1 John 5:14) James the apostle states: “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” The apostle added: “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” –  James 5:13-18.
